Publishing Consulting
Getting expert advice from someone who isn’t trying to sell you something can save you both time and money. It helps you avoid trusting the wrong people, heading down the wrong path, or staying stuck in indecision. The right guidance brings clarity, confirms whether your goals are realistic, and helps you move forward with confidence.
When you're deep in the writing process, it's hard to see the big picture. Talking to someone who understands both traditional and self-publishing gives you a clear view of how the industry works, and where you fit in.
I offer real-world insight into what full-time authors actually do, how they earn a living, and what you can reasonably expect. This type of knowledge is essential for setting practical, achievable benchmarks on your path to a successful writing career.

How does it work?
We will meet via Zoom.
It is important to see and hear each other as much as possible as we discuss your concerns. When you click on the Book Now button, you will be taken to the intake form. This form tells me a little bit about you as an author, your book project and your goals. It will also allow you to choose the length of consulting session you prefer, 1 hour or 2 hour. Once you make that choice, you will pay and then within 24 hours I will verify it and you will be sent a link to choose a date and time on my Zoom Calendar. Zoom will send you a link to login on that day and time and we will chat.
It's really that simple.

What do we talk about?
While every book project is unique, there are some common areas that authors want to discuss. Here are a few examples:

Should I choose traditional or self-publishing?
How do I find an agent and work with a traditional publisher?
What are the considerations if I self-publish? (Timelines, costs, and marketing expectations)
What is a hybrid publisher and how do I know if a publisher is a scam?
Can I make a living as a full time author and how might that happen?
What kind of marketing should I expect to need if I self publish?
Do I still have to market if I traditional publish and do I need a platform?
How do authors get paid in either traditional or self published situations and what kind of money could I expect?
How do I choose a genre and what are the requirements for those?
What kind of contracts and rights should I know about if I hire my own people, i.e. cover artists, editors, illustrators?
I think I made a mistake and chose a sketchy publisher, now what are my options?
How much does the consultation cost?
My initial consultations are very affordable and bring value to your publishing journey. Making information-based decisions early on can save you a lot of heartache and money long term.
You will also have the confidence in knowing I'm not selling you any author services other than consulting/coaching, nor do I have agreements to sell anyone else's service to authors. I don't have a vested interesting in any direction you choose for your publishing journey so you can be assured you are getting unbiased information.
